One of our customers had an LTL truck freight shipment scheduled for a remote location. The carrier confirmed delivery for 11 AM that day. Because the delivery site isn’t visited often, we called the terminal early that morning to confirm the shipment status. We were told the freight would arrive that day, but the trucks were still being loaded so they could not specify which truck it was on yet.

By late morning, we followed up again. The update was that the shipment was on the way and expected to arrive around one thirty in the afternoon. We started to relax a bit, but by two o’clock, when the shipment still hadn’t arrived, that’s when heartburn set in. Another call to the terminal revealed the shipment never made the truck that morning due to the remote delivery site, and the new delivery estimate was the following week.

That’s when heartburn turned into full-blown acid reflux. The customer had traveled a long way and was only in town that day to test the material at their own customer’s site. Waiting a week was simply not an option. So we stepped in to arrange same day freight shipping with a hot shot delivery service to rush the pickup and keep the schedule on track. But the challenges weren’t over yet. Halfway to the site, the driver had another delay. No problem — call the customer, tell them whats going on so they know what to expect and deploy a 3rd lever to take over and complete the delivery.

The shipment arrived late, around 9PM that night. Not ideal, but throughout the entire journey, the Kinetic Chemical team kept the customer fully informed with honest, transparent updates every step of the way. We went as far as we possibly could short of hopping on a plane ourselves to make sure the delivery happened (which we would have done if need be). We absorbed all extra costs because that’s how we stand by our word.
